MICHAEL R. SANCHEZ PHD

Dr. Michael R. Sanchez is an experienced criminal justice and business manager with 20+ years of hands on experience in the criminal justice system. Dr. Sanchez holds a Master Peace Officer license in the State of Texas; a Bachelor’s Degree in Police Science from the University of Ottawa, KS; a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration with Utica College, Utica, NY; and a PhD in Business Administration, with a Specialization in Criminal Justice with Northcentral University, Prescott Valley, AZ.

Dr. Sanchez served four years as an International Police Officer with the United Nations. He served in the United Nations Police in Kosovo for three years, ultimately as the Director of Personnel and Administration for the UN Police. He also served as Regional Commander of the Les Cayes (Sud) Region, for the United Nations Police in Haiti. Dr. Sanchez was in Haiti during the 12 January 2010 earthquake and commanded his region throughout the relief and recovery efforts.

Dr. Sanchez successfully transitioned his criminal justice experience in to the private sector. He worked for six years as the Assistant Project Manager for a federal contractor that operates immigration detention centers for the US government.

Dr. Sanchez is a full time Lecturer for the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in the Criminal Justice Department. In addition, he is the managing partner for DeWitt and Sanchez Consulting, which provided medicolegal consulting and expert testimony for criminal and civil cases.

Dr. Sanchez is still a licensed peace officer in the State of Texas and is a Reserve Lieutenant with the Cameron County Constable’s Office, Precinct 2.
